I currently work at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education as their in-house Graphic Designer for the last 10 years. I’m originally from Puerto Rico and have a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Puerto Rico. Once I graduated, I moved to Austin, Texas where I earned a second bachelor’s degree in graphic design at St. Edward’s University.
In Austin, I worked for three years as a graphic designer for the National Council on Family Violence where I designed for The National Domestic Violence Hotline, Texas Council on Family Violence and the National Dating Abuse Helpline — loveisrespect.org. After living in Austin for 6 years, I decided to move to DC in search of better opportunities. Once in DC I had the chance to work at a small marketing firm, HMA Associates, for 2 years as a Graphic Designer and production coordinator. My design experience includes illustrations, logos, brochures, online campaigns, conference event collateral and poster design for public transportation.
I have always been committed to public service. In addition to my nonprofit experience, I interned at the USDA Forest Service in 2001, the National Science Foundation in 2004 and the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemeteries in 2006.
In my free time, I like to stay busy and enjoy spending time with friends and family, exercising, trying out new restaurants, traveling, and returning to the warm beaches of Puerto Rico.
